The Human Energy Body

The human energy body refers to the energetic structure of a human being. It contains the chakras, dantians, meridians, nadis and subtle bodies (aura), and it is the overall energy that animates our physical being. This energy body is interconnected with the physical body and one affects the other.

You can think of chakras as the main receptors that manage the flow of energy into and out of the physical body via your subtle bodies. They are often described as spinning disks (or wheels) of energy. They correspond to bundles of nerves, major organs, and areas of our energetic body that affect our emotional and physical well-being. They are always in motion and are always changing. Healthy chakras are more “open”, flowing and aligned with each other and with the earth and the divine. The meridians and nadis are similar to your veins and arteries, but instead of blood, they carry energy all over the body.

Dantians and chakras are similar as they are both energy points in the body that work together to keep our energy pure and free flowing. However, they are not the same. Chakras can be closely related to the three dantian, but they fundamentally differ in the sense that dantian are viewed as reservoirs of energy, whereas chakras are receptors or gateways.

Since your subtle bodies and chakras are the mechanisms to manage the flow of energy in and out of your physical body, basically everything; every emotion or situation or person that we interact with in our day to day lives, has the potential for impacting our energy body, which in turn affects our physical body and emotional well being. For Good or for Bad.

1st Chakra or Root Chakra - Vibrates at the color red and holds our lessons for how to connect with others for survival -meeting basic needs of food and shelter. Here we learn to be part of and accepted by a community.

2nd Chakra or Sacral Chakra- Vibrates at the color orange and teaches us to connect with others to fulfill emotional and creative needs. Ideas (as well as children) are birthed here.

3rd Chakra or Solar Plexus- Vibrates at a golden yellow and teaches us to own our personal power. At this level, we are learning to express our true nature and differentiate from our family and community.

4th Chakra or Heart Chakra- Vibrates at the color green and teaches us the joy of unconditional love and self-love. We begin to communicate, and act based on our heart wisdom, which is true and divine.

5th Chakra or Throat Chakra- Vibrates at a beautiful light blue or cyan color. Its function is to help us learn to speak our own truth, discovering what beliefs are truly ours versus what has been given to us by others.

6th Chakra or Third Eye- Vibrates at the color purple or deep indigo. Here, we learn to trust in our intuition. We are able to hear (and listen to) our inner voice, without the interference of outside opinions and fears.

7th Chakra or Crown Chakra- Vibrates at the color violet or purpleish white. Here is where we learn to have faith and to connect to something greater than ourselves. It brings the gift of serenity and self-awareness.

The Seven Subtle Bodies

1st Layer: Etheric/Physical Body- Bridges our physical lower bodies to our higher bodies and holds information pertaining to one’s physical health.

2nd Layer: Emotional Body- Full of emotions, charge and intensity.

3rd Layer: Mental Body- About beliefs, all thoughts and mental processes, the use of the imagination, memory.

4th Layer: Astral Body- The bridge of the physical bodies into the spiritual realm, allows you to explore the non-physical realm and enter into other dimensions.

5th Layer: Etheric Template Body- The template or original blueprint that exists before the physical body is formed, the part of your energy that exists in parallel realities.

6th Layer: Celestial Body- Exists purely in the spiritual realm and connecting to the celestial body often happens through meditation and allows you to reach a level of awareness and connectedness that aligns you with the universe.

7th Layer: Ketheric or Causal Body- Sometimes described as the soul because it contains all of the information of the lower bodies, as well as the knowledge that you are one with the Divine, also thought to be the part of you that reincarnates.
